A Poem for Grandma:
Grandma, I love you and always will
I cherish the warmth from your heart that’s now still
You’ll be with us forever, in our hearts and our minds
We’ll remember your hugs and your words warm and kind
I’ll never forget our Saturday afternoons
Sitting by your fire, I’d warm up soon
With a hot cup of tea and of course a jam tart,
I’ll keep those days precious within my sad heart
Saturday Nights as youngsters we’d come to stay
Fizzy lemonade to drink, Scrabble we’d play
We always slept so safe and so sound,
Feeling your love which knew no bounds.
When the birds flew the nest on adventures Worldwide,
I always knew you were there by my side.
I’d send you my flight schedule so you always knew,
I’d landed safely as part of the crew.
You watched over me then, as I know you do now
In a place with no pain, your mind free somehow.
From there you can watch your great grandchildren and me
There’s no distance now, no miles ‘cross the sea
I know you are with me, I can sense that you’re here
You’re in a happy place now, that much is clear.
With a warm loving smile, you show me your face
You really are in the most beautiful place
Grandma we love you and always will
We cherish the warmth from your heart that’s now still.
